Brent Warren G-Series Walk-through

G-Series 3-Axis CNC Machining Center for Automated, High Speed Machining of 4 feet wide, 5 feet wide, and 7 feet wide panels

Brent Warren with C.R. Onsrud (Troutman, North Carolina) presents the G-Series configured with a fully automated system.

If you’re struggling with processing speeds, dusty environments, and the need to process various sized panels, see what the G-Series has to offer. This machine is configured with a panel processing system option to machine 7′ wide European sized panels as well as standard North American panel sizes.

To give you a little back history on how this machine build came about, a client came to us seeking better optimization, quicker throughput, and the ability to process North American 4′ and 5′ wide panels as well as the 7′ wide European sized panels that are become more and more popular here in North America. Our customer is a kitchen cabinet manufacturer using standard North American melamine panels and wider European high-gloss, specialty melamine panels.

To meet the customer’s needs, we configured this 7′ wide version of our heaviest duty and fastest moving gantry style machine: the 3-axis G-Series.

It is a fully automated panel processing system, complete with automated part labeling. This system was integrated with a Barbaric storage retrieval system that automatically loads panels onto the Onsrud system.

Once the panel is loaded onto a conveyor, which will be inside of the Barbaric system, labels are printed and then the labels are automatically placed onto the panel. Locations of the labels are based on the nested program that the router will be cutting downstream.

Labeling

Once all the labels are placed on the panel, the panel moves forward to a buffer zone where it waits for the automated loading system to place the panel onto the router table.

Once on the router table and secured by vacuum, parts are drilled, cut, and then offloaded onto the outfeed conveyor.

While unloading the parts, the vacuum pusher attached to the gantry sweeps and cleans the table as well as loads the next panel onto the table.

We’ve added additional dust collection locations, including a downdraft transition between the router table and the outfeed conveyor,

an over-the-conveyor dust hood,

and another downdraft hood at the end of the outfeed conveyor.

Once these parts are on the outfeed conveyor, an operator manually removes and stacks the parts, or they could be automatically picked and stacked with a Barbaric offloading system.

This system is designed for maximum production throughput, with minimal operator intervention, with the flexibility to process various panel sizes, and with the ability to keep your work environment clean.

This particular build has a few unique options, including an 18 spindle drill block for high-speed drilling operations. Also included are custom vacuum zones in the router table to accommodate the various panels that this customer wants to process.

If you’re struggling with processing speeds, duty environments, and/or need to process non-standard panel sizes, contact us today to see what solutions we can provide for you. Give us a call at: 704-508-7000 or reach out via email: info@cronsrud.com. We are happy to help you any way we can.

ES-Series (Extreme S-Series) High-Speed 5-Axis CNC Machine

Ken Stissel with C.R. Onsrud (Troutman, North Carolina) introduces the ES-Series (Extreme S-Series) in this post. The S-Series/ES-Series configuration is for applications that have the floorspace and are better served by the single table moving in the longer direction for increased table access.
