E-Series 3-, 4- and 5-Axis CNC Machine

Thomas Tuck with C.R. Onsrud (Troutman, North Carolina) introduces the E-Series in this post. This machine is designed for a wide range of applications and materials, such as plastic, nonferrous metal, composites, fiberglass, and wood.

The E-Series CNC router is one of the biggest and baddest CNC machines in the C.R. Onsrud lineup with industry-leading speed, rigidity, precision, and reliability. Some key features of the E-Series fixed bridge, moving table machine include:

  • 4′ x 8′ to 10′ x 12′ Table Sizes.

The twin table design is truly where the E-Series makes you money. While you’re machining on Table 1, you can load/unload Table 2, eliminating the time between machine cycles. This pendulum processing technique increases the number of parts you can make per shift. It also gives you the flexibility to integrate different production needs. By locking both tables together you gain access to the full table for oversized parts.

  • Up to 52″ Z-Stroke accommodates your large parts and fixtures.
  • Heavy-duty thick steel columns and bridge.

From the ground up, this machine is built like a tank. The base, columns, and bridge are fabricated with heavy-duty thick steel. This heavy-duty construction reduces vibration, improves rigidity, and gives you the ability to machine through different materials while maintaining superior finish quality and tight tolerances.

  • 3-Axis, 4-Axis, or 5-Axis capabilities.
  • Spindle configuration from Single up to 8 Spindles.

The twin spindle with  5′ x 10′ tables is a popular configuration because it provides optimal productivity and flexibility. With the multi-spindles, you gain Dual Process Technology which allows you to cut completely different parts at the same time.

  • Spindle Speeds of 18-33+hp spindle for maximum material removal rates and high-speed cutting at 24,000 rpm.
  • 12-position Tool Changer (standard) or 30-, 60-, 90, and 120-position tool changers. Add a tool changer on the other side of the machine to double your capacity.
  • FANUC® controls, servos and drives provide, without question, the most reliable solution in the market. FANUC advantages:
    • The largest control manufacturer in the world.
    • Parts guaranteed for the life of the controller.
    • Peace of mind when it comes to reliability and longevity. They measure their downtime in decades: 52 years mean time between failures.
    • Every C.R. Onsrud FANUC control comes standard with the FANUC interface as well as our own user-friendly, touchscreen HMI, making it very simple for you to learn and operate.
  • Manufactured in America. Designed, fabricated, machined, painted, assembled, and shipped from our factory in Troutman, NC.
  • Tailored to your needs and built to last.

Numerous other options and capabilities are available, including enclosure options, automatic tool measurement, automatic tool lubrication, tool setter and probing, linear scales, higher horsepower spindles, and many others.

C.R. Onsrud is known throughout the world as a high-quality CNC manufacturer with tremendous support and service. On the S-Series, the single table moves longways under the bridge, an ergonomic design that gives operators unobstructed access to three sides of the table for easy loading and unloading of large workpieces and tooling. It also allows for the easy integration of material-handling systems, transfer tables, and a wide range of automation alternatives.
