Total Table Sizes

The E-Series 3-Axis is an industrial CNC fixed bridge router equipped to handle heavy-duty applications that require rapid, deep, and heavy cuts in plastics, composites, fiberglass, dense woods, and nonferrous metals. Its highly responsive drive motors offer high feed rates, high material removal rates, and quick acceleration/deceleration to produce deep cuts faster and with better finishes than traditional slow, deep cutting operations.

BENEFITS OF A TWIN TABLE DESIGN

A unique benefit of the twin table design is that when one table is in the forward position and one is completely back, you can place a part on each table that is the same size as the table and still independently machine completely around both parts. You can also perform pendulum processing or add a second spindle for dual process capability.

SAFE, EFFICIENT PRODUCTION WITH PENDULUM PROCESSING

With the twin table configuration, you can load Table 1 safely while performing machining operations on Table 2. Then, while the machine switches to processing material on the newly loaded Table 1, you safely remove parts from Table 2 and reload the table. This technique is known as Pendulum Processing, and it keeps your production continuously flowing.

FLEXIBILITY WITH TWIN SPINDLES AND DUAL PROCESS TECHNOLOGY

By adding a second spindle to the twin table configuration, you gain flexibility in your production, a value equal to buying an additional machine without the expense or taking up valuable floor space. You can cut twice as many parts in the same time period.

  • Use one spindle to machine one process on Table 1, while the other spindle machines an entirely different process on Table 2.
  • Use both spindles on an alternating basis to perform different operations on a single workpiece.
  • Use both spindles on a fixed center distance to produce identical parts at the same time on the same table (while still pendulum processing) or different tables.
  • Use both spindles on a frequently adjusting or varying center distance while working on a single process.
  • Park one spindle and electronically lock the tables together, giving full table access to the other spindle for machining large or oversized parts.
HIGH THROUGHPUT AND VERSATILITY WITH MULTIPLE SPINDLES

Adding additional spindles to your machine gives you the versatility equivalent to having multiple machines. All spindles can be cutting identical parts simultaneously to keep production flowing, or consider, for example, equipping one or two spindles with 4th axis capability aggregates (specialized tooling) and when the initial 3-axis processes are finished, park those spindles, and send in the 4-axis spindle(s) to machine the sides of the material without losing the time required for refixturing. The E-Series supports up to 8 spindles.

ACCESSORIES

Customize the E-Series with accessories. Here you’ll find ways to increase your productivity by adding a 4th axis to a 3-axis machine; select your tool lubrication; eliminate measuring errors with automatic tool measurement systems; and more.

C Axis 240x300

C-AXIS

With a C-Axis (aka 4th axis), you can machine at an angle, including on the sides of your material, to create complex contours (such as helixes), otherwise not possible with a 3-axis machine. This comes standard on a 5-axis machine.

Air Blast (240x300)

AIR BLAST

Bursts of air keep tools cool and remove debris and chips from the cut without the need for coolant.

Mql (240x300)

MQL

Primarily used for metals, Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) dispenses only the amount of lubricant needed for your specific operation to keep tools cool and improve cut quality.

Directional Air Blast (240x300)

DIRECTIONAL AIR BLAST

Directional air blast blows air on the tooltip to aid in removing debris and cool tools. The direction of air changes relative to the path of the machine. It can be turned on/off via M-Code.

Auto Tool Measurement Single Options Hero

ATLM SYSTEM (METROL)

Precisely measures the length of your tool and automatically feeds that value into your CNC machine controls.

ATLM SYSTEM: TS27R (RENISHAW)

Precisely measures the length and diameter of your tool and automatically feeds that value into your CNC machine controls. It also detects if a tool is broken.

(None)_NC4_Blue (240x300)

ATLM: NC4 (RENISHAW)

Precisely measures the length and diameter of your tool, without contact, and automatically feeds that value into your CNC machine controls. It also detects if a tool is broken. NC4 is application dependent; table constraints may apply.

AUTOMATIC GREASE LUBRICATION

Automatically greases your tools, bearings, and ball screws at regular intervals.

GREASE DRIP PANS

Drip pans (a.k.a. trays) catch excess lubrication that might otherwise cause contamination or other hazards.

Linear Encoders (Scales)

LINEAR ENCODER (SCALES)

With noncontact sensing, linear encoders (scales) measure and monitor linear movement, position, and speed and provide that feedback to your CNC machine.

Volumetric Laser Compensation

VOLUMETRIC LASER COMPENSATION

With volumetric laser compensation, machining tools are automatically calibrated and the machine makes any necessary adjustments.

Note: Depending on your machine, C.R. Onsrud sends out a third-party A2LA-accredited company to your facility to perform volumetric compensation.

DUST / CHIP MANAGEMENT

Dust management systems connected to appropriate dust collection systems capture chips, dust, and other airborne particles that would otherwise be harmful to humans and the machining environment. We offer dust management systems that are geared toward the materials you’re machining and your production environment.

Dust Hood (240x300)

DUST HOOD

Targeted to the machining area, a dust hood suctions away dust and debris that can impact your health as well as the performance of your CNC machine.

Note: Due to the range of motion required for 5-axis machines, a machine enclosure is recommended over a dust hood.

Servo Positioning Dust Hood (240x300)

SERVO HOOD™

With CR Onsrud’s innovative servo-positioned dust hood, we have improved upon the standard 2-position dust hood and given the CNC machine the ability to automatically adjust the dust hood’s height offset based on tool length, relative to the workpiece. This helps customers, who machine with a variety of tool lengths, get the most effective dust collection regardless of the tool length.

Dust stanchion kit coalescing multiple vacuum hoses into a single path for efficient dust extraction.

DUST STANCHION KIT

Designed for low ceilings and shop floors with layout constraints, a dust collection stanchion kit transitions dust to your collector from either side of the machine.

DUST TROUGH

The dust trough system uses air from your vacuum to safely pull dust and debris away from the underside of the cutting area. It is engineered for 5′ wide machines and needs to be manually cleaned or integrated with a dust collection system.

Air Knife Single Option Page Hero

AIR KNIFE

Engineered especially for fine or coarse chips (e.g., hard composites, fiber cement, metal, etc.), programmable air knives clear harmful debris from your linear guides.

Rear Enclosure (240x300)

REAR ENCLOSURE

Partial standalone enclosures provide additional safety when the back of a machine is not against a wall.

E-SERIESFULLY ENCLOSED

FULL ENCLOSURE WITH OR WITHOUT A ROOF

A fully enclosed machine contains debris, reduces noise levels, protects your electronics and mechanical drives from both wet and dry machining, and safely isolates the operator from the machining zone and airborne particles.

Dust Collection Ports

ENCLOSURE DUST COLLECTION PORTS

Dust collection ports are integrated with your vacuum system to move dust and debris away from the work area.

Center Partition

CENTER PARTITION

With the partition in place, the machine is split into two separate zones, so you can safely load/unload parts in the unused zone. Pivot the partition against the wall and the machine resumes operation across the entire table.

WORK HOLDING & POSITIONING

These devices accurately locate your workpiece in orientation to the table and the tooling. To properly secure your workpieces, it is important to have the correct work-holding device for the material you are cutting. Proper work holding and material positioning ensure precise and efficient machining.
